Seekseekqua Wines 2017 "Waldo" Pinot Gris

Seekseekqua Wines 2017 "Waldo" Pinot Gris

The inaugural vintage of Seekseekqua Wines Pinot Gris, by Kevin White Winery Cellar Master Dan Kraft! Over the past 2 vintages, Dan has been quietly working on his passion for Pinot Gris. Having joined us from the Willamette Valley in 2015, Dan was able to source the fruit from some amazing vineyards within the Eola-Amity Hills near Salem, OR. In 2017 Dan sourced Pinot Gris from Temperance Hill Vineyard. Both sites are certified organic, and the farming and winemaking have been executed with terroir in mind. The name, Seekseekqua, is the native name for Mount Jefferson, the second-highest volcano in Oregon (after the iconic Mount Hood). Dan grew up in Colorado and has been climbing mountains from a young age. His enthusiasm for mountains continued after arriving in the Pacific Northwest and he was happy to summit Seekseekqua/Jefferson just before harvest in 2014. The individual wines are named after glaciers on the mountain, Whitewater and Waldo.

Seekseekqua 2017 “Waldo” Pinot Gris

This is an Alsatian-style Pinot Gris made from 100% organic Pinot Gris grapes grown in the Eola-Amity Hills. A well-balanced wine that reveals floral and apple notes on the nose and a delicious play of acid and sugar on the palette.

This wine glows with aromatics of wildflower honey and green apple. Its rich but mineral-driven mouthfeel is complemented by flavors of lemon, apricot, and a bit of ginger. Made in an Alsatian style, this wine has a delicious play of sugar and acid on the palette. Delicious with seafood, spicy Asian dishes, or blue cheese.
