Newsprint Wines Cabernet Sauvignon

Jen and Jerry of Guardian Cellars continue to offer some of the best value wines in Washington under their Newsprint Wine label. Typically a Cabernet Sauvignon at this price range would be designated as a Columbia Valley wine, and it's more rare to see one designation as Red Mountain. For us, this wine being source off Red Mountain means a bigger bolder Cab, and a genuine crowd-pleaser. I'm sure I've mentioned that Quintessence Vineyard is among from favorites from this region, and that's also the source for this wine. It's aged for 18 months in 25% new French oak barrels, offering up notes of dark cherry, vanilla, black currants, and baked plums, finishing with a smooth texture. Jen and Jerry made just 400 cases of the Newsprint Cabernet.

Sean Sullivan of Wine Enthusiast says, "Full bodied with soft tannins round out this wine giving it a lovely texture with good acid to keep it fresh."
