Before starting ImpulseWine.com Yashar Shayan worked for many Wine Spectator award winning restaurants in the Seattle area. Most recently he worked at the Willows Inn on Lummi Island with Chef Blaine Wetzel, Food & Wine Magazine “Best New Chef” and James Beard Award Nominee. There he offered a carefully selected medley of wines, both domestic and foreign, to compliment Chef Wetzel’s intricately crafted dishes, made with locally foraged and farmed ingredients.
Yashar is a Level 2 Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers.
Additionally he has a Level 3 Advanced Certification with the Wine and
Spirits Education Trust in London, and a Level 2 Certification from the
International Sommelier Guild. Prior to his wine studies, he obtained
a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Washington in Seattle.
